Therapy

Many people seek the so called ‘talking cure’ at some point in their lives; Jungian Analysis offers them the opportunity to talk through their worries, difficulties or needs in a secure, confidential, and non-judgmental setting.

Jungian Analysis is a psychoanalytical process developed by Dr. Carl Gustav Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist, one of the leading pioneers of modern depth psychology or psychology of the unconscious.

From the Jungian viewpoint, analysis is essentially a dialogue between two people – the analyst and the analysand. Its aim is to help analysand to get in touch with his/her own inner resources of growth and healing, and thus to eventually arrive at individual solutions to life’s challenges.

Analysis is about becoming conscious of your unconscious, of who you are, of your strengths and weaknesses. Through this process of increased self-awareness, transformation and actualization, Jungian analysis can help individuals to see what is out of balance in their psyche, to empower them to consciously make changes that will enable them to become more balanced, authentic, and whole.

Analysis is suitable for a wide range of people and issues you see in the box.

Highly Suitable for

  • Depression

"The dream shows the inner truth and reality of the patient as it really is: not as I conjecture it to be, and not as he or she would like it to be, but as it is."

-- C.G.Jung

Dream Work

The central focus of the analysis lies in working with client’s dreams. Jung considered dreams a natural psychic phenomenon depicting the inner situation of the dreamer, a direct expression of the current condition of dreamer’s psyche (mental world), a "spontaneous self-portrayal in symbolical form of the actual situation in the unconscious” (Jung 1967, Vol. 8, par.505).

Jung agreed with Freud that dreams operate as retrospective compensation bringing up repressed material. However, he went further arguing that dreams also have a prospective function; they are a message from the unconscious indicating certain neurotic deficiencies of dreamer's conscious life as well as his or her internal psychological transformations.

Moreover, in Jung’s view, dreams express not just personal material, but also collective or universal contents. Dreams frequently contain archetypes, the universal patterns that comprise the collective unconscious and the archetypal images found in dreams can provide the dreamer with special insights and guidance along the path toward self realisation.

“In each of us there is another whom we do not know. ”

About

Alongside a career in Jungian Analysis, I trained initially as a Sinologist (BA) and a political scientist (MA and PhD) specializing in Chinese politics. I am still employed as a lecturer (Dozentin) at the Institute for Political Science, University of Zurich, while devoting the most of my time to academic research in Jungian studies (with special interest political psychology) and my private practice as a Jungian psychoanalyst.
